Mark Weiner, D.D.S.

Dr. Mark A. Weiner earned his D.D.S. degree from the University of Southern California, graduating with honors. He went on to do a one-year internship at the University of Washington and Seattle VA Hospitals in Seattle, Washington, before entering a three-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at the University of Southern California Los Angeles County Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Upon completion of residency, Dr. Weiner and his family moved to Sacramento, California, where he started his own private practice specializing in dentoalveolar and orthognathic surgery. He remained in private practice in the Sacramento area for 17 years, before going to work for the Department of Corrections. In this role, he traveled to various facilities in Northern California to provide advanced oral surgical care for five years. During this time, he also joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve attached to Travis Air Force Base, and attained the rank of full Colonel. Dr. Weiner served in Iraq in 2003, as a Commander of an EMEDS Hospital and the only oral maxillofacial surgeon in the country at that time. He is presently a Commander of the Aerospace Medicine Squadron at Travis AFB.

Dr. Weiner has been involved in group practice since 1999, joining Blue Oak Dental in 2007. He is a Diplomate in the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of numerous professional societies.

Dr. MacDonald

Barry MacDonald, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. MacDonald grew up in Southern California. His love of sports ultimately lead to a scholarship to play football at the University of California at Riverside, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at UC Riverside, he found a passion for volunteering with mentally handicapped children. At the urging of his mother and his desire to work with the mentally handicapped, he pursued a profession in pediatric dentistry.

Upon acceptance to the School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California, Dr. MacDonald pursued his dreams and graduated with a dental degree. Upon graduation, he was recognized for his interest in pediatrics and was awarded with a certificate of excellence by the American Society of Dentistry for Children, and selected for specialty training in pediatric dentistry at USC. After this specialty training, Dr. MacDonald attained his Board Certification and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. MacDonald served 22 years in the Air Force, earning the rank of Colonel and traveling the world with his wife and two children. He retired in Roseville, and joined the Gentle Dental Rocklin team in 2004 to serve the pediatric community with his simple philosophy: provide a service that is honest, compassionate, and respectful to both patient and family.

Dr. Resch

Frank Resch, D.D.S.

Dr. Resch was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His interest in health care was inspired by his father, a physician. Dr. Resch attended the University of Minnesota for both undergraduate and dental schools, graduating from the latter in 1974. He then entered the United States Air Force and served in a variety of locations, including: Tacoma, WA; Denver, CO; San Antonio, TX; Albuquerque, NM; Japan; Korea; and Beale Air Force Base, where he retired in 2005. As a resident of Rocklin since 1974, he decided to stay there to go into private practice with Gentle Dental, and now considers Rocklin his home. He married his wife, Karen, in 1976, and has two adult children, Rose and Francesca.

Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Resch’s interests include bicycling, cross country skiing, and gardening. Prior to college, he competed in slalom events with his high school ski team, as well as jumping events with the Minneapolis Ski Jumping Club. Along with his wife, he is a former competitive exhibitor of roses, irises, and day lilies.

Dr. Resch’s family and Air Force experiences have taught him integrity, honesty, and compassion – attributes he brings to every one of his patients. He cares deeply about each patient and works to make sure they have satisfying and positive experiences with him.

Dr. Arena

Mark Arena, D.D.S.

Dr. Mark Arena has lived in California his whole life. He grew up in Stockton, graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1974. His passion for sports, including football, basketball, and baseball, carried him through most of his youth, and he achieved the title of All-Conference as a football player at St. Mary’s. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from UC Davis in 1978, then he tried out Southern California for a while, where he graduated in the clinical top ten percent of his class at the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1983. Dr. Arena always loved the foothill side of the Sacramento Valley, and set up a private practice in Roseville, CA. After seven years of solo practice, he joined his friends to form the Blue Oak Dental Group.

Dr. Arena has many diverse interests, but athletics, health, and exercise have always been major players in his life. He has competed in national West Coast Swing competitions, received his private pilot’s license, and coached Rocklin Junior Thunder football. He also has five children and has always been closely involved in their activities.

Over the past 25 years, Dr. Arena’s passion for dentistry and contribution to his community has been undeniable. He is known for his friendly nature, positive attitude, and contagious sense of humor. He approaches every day with vigor, energy, and an appreciation for life. He wants to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone he meets – simply put, he cares about people.

Dr. Steiner

Gregory Steiner, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Steiner’s two main interests are travel and a love of the ocean. Dr. Steiner has circumnavigated the globe, taking two weeks off every three months while practicing periodontics to sail from California across the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and finally the Atlantic Ocean. Currently, his most primary interests are sailing, surfing, and outrigger canoe paddling.

Dr. Steiner took a sabbatical from dentistry in 1995 to pursue other interests, which led to research identifying the causative agent for the reduction of the cancer incidence rate found in the Pacific Island Nations. Other research led to the development of a medical treatment for alcoholism, which resulted in the issuance of a US patent. As a result of this work, Dr. Steiner was asked to be co-author of the monologue on Cancer in Africa, published by the National Cancer Institute of France.

Eventually turning his interests back to dentistry, Dr. Steiner founded Steiner Laboratories, one of the few companies currently applying tissue engineering principals to the field of bone regeneration. In 2006, Steiner Laboratories received FDA approval for its line of bone grafts. Today, Steiner Laboratories is active in the development of innovative bone grafting materials and surgical therapies to solve some of dentistry’s most challenging problems. At this time, Dr. Steiner splits his time acting as CEO of Steiner Laboratories in Honolulu, Hawaii, and practicing periodontics and dental implants at Blue Oak Dental Roseville.

Dr. Miller

Dwight Miller, D.D.S., M.S.

Dwight Miller received a B.A. in Genetics from UC Berkeley, graduating with distinction. He went on to attend UC San Francisco for his B.S. and D.D.S. in Dentistry as a Willard C. Fleming Scholar and recipient of the F. Gene Dixon Student Leadership Award. He also studied Orthodontics at Washington University in St. Louis, where he received his M.S. degree. He is a member of the ADA, CDA, AAO, and PCSO.

Dr. Miller’s personal hobbies include running, fishing, and golf. He also volunteers his time and skills to Smiles for Kids, a program that delivers orthodontic services to underprivileged children in the Sacramento area. His participation in this program links directly to what he enjoys most about being an Orthodontist, which is “bringing children out of their shell with a beautiful smile.”

Dr. Wilkes

Dr. Allan “Randy” Wilkes received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology & Wildlife Management from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He then graduated with honors from Northwestern University Dental School and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He has been working at Blue Oak Dental for over 20 years of his 28 years in practice, and was voted one of the best dentists in the Sacramento area by the Sacramento District Dental Society.

When he’s not busy keeping up with his five children and four grandchildren, he is building a log cabin in Wyoming, volunteering as a scout leader, or hiking, camping, and fishing. In his more quiet moments, Dr. Wilkes works on improving his Spanish language skills and mastering Sudoku puzzles.

Dr. Milla

Dr. Ronald Milla began his dental career as a dental assistant while in the U.S. Air Force. He then went on to graduate with honors from California State University in Hayward, where he received his B.S. in Biological Sciences. He received his D.D.S. at the UCLA School of Dentistry, before spending two years as a Clinical Instructor at for the school.

Dr. Milla is an avid traveler and adventurer. He has visited 44 of the 50 states, as well as Canada and Mexico. His international travel includes Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and the Caribbean. His love of the outdoors and cycling has taken him peddling across the entire west coast of the U.S., from the Canadian border to Mexico (1,760 miles in 17 days). He also completed a southern U.S. ride from Florida to California (2,692 miles in 22 days) in early 2009. He is currently planning two more rides: Maine to Key West, Florida; and Maine to Port Angeles, Washington. Once he has completed these rides he will have ridden the entire perimeter of the continental United States!

Dr. McClure

Jeffrey McClure, D.D.S.

Dr. McClure served as an Instructor Navigator in the U.S. Air Force for 7 years, and later graduated as Valedictorian from the UOP School of Dentistry. He has been part of the Blue Oak Dental family since 1996.

When not busy caring for his patients, Dr. McClure relaxes by restoring classic automobiles, participating in numerous car shows and riding his motorcycle throughout the Sierra Mountains.

Dr. Gade

Michael Gade, BA, BS, DDS has more than 20 years of experience as a practicing general dentist in Roseville, California. Following his father’s example, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University in 1977 and his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of California, San Francisco in 1983. Dr. Gade is the Regional Clinical Director and a member of the Clinical Leadership Board for Interdent Corporation, a national dental management company with dental offices throughout the United States. As an outdoorsman and avid fly fisherman, Dr. Gade has traveled to New Zealand and remote parts of the United States to fish the lakes and rivers for that one perfect (and largest) trout.
